Victor “Coach” Hicks is a nationally recognized computer science educator, curriculum developer, and cultural strategist dedicated to expanding access to high-quality, culturally responsive STEM education for Black and Brown youth. As the founder and director of Coding with Culture, Coach Hicks leads a movement to create a “Kindergarten through HBCU” pathway in computer science and design thinking that affirms identity, celebrates Black and Brown genius, and prepares the next generation of tech changemakers.
Rooted in the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Coach Hicks’ work weaves together computational thinking, cultural relevance, and project-based learning. His programs have reached thousands of students and educators through school partnerships, national conferences, and virtual workshops—centering Black joy, excellence, and innovation every step of the way.
