Charles Wang is a Computer Science and Cybersecurity educator who currently serves as the Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Over the past eight years at Clear Springs High School in League City, Texas, he designed and led a four-year CS pathway—including a comprehensive applied cybersecurity course—that grew enrollment from 100 to over 250 students per year.
He holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and is completing an M.S. in Computer Science there. As an Air Force Research Laboratory Scholar, Charles spent a summer conducting reinforcement-learning research for space-vehicle control in Albuquerque, underscoring his passion for AI and real-world applications.
Charles’s dedication to broadening participation in computing has earned him the Honeywell & Houston Astros STEM Teacher Hall of Fame Award, the inaugural WeTeach_CS Cyber Change Maker Award, and the CYBER.ORG Educator Award. He has secured over $40,000 in grants to expand hands-on learning opportunities, and his students consistently excel in the Congressional App Challenge, National Cyber League, AFA CyberPatriot, and national esports tournaments. Through College Board Career Kickstart Cybersecurity and WeTeach_Cyber, he also mentors fellow educators to bring cybersecurity into their classrooms.
