About me
My teaching journey began in the Apple IIe Era. I became fascinated by these machines. In my many years of being in the classroom, I can count on one hand how many were NOT in a computer lab.
As computers/devices have evolved, so has my teaching from a "sage on the stage" to a facilitator/guide. In 2017, I was literally dumped into the cyber world. At first, I had to swim for my life. There were not many resources for HS level cyber classes. Thank goodness some agencies/companies realized the need and created resources that allowed me to present information to my students on their level.
2025 will be my Silver Anniversary in teaching Computer Science courses at most levels (Intro, CS1, AP CSP, AP CSA). I am honored to have been selected to pilot the new AP Career Kickstart Cybersecurity and Networking courses. In 2005, I attended my first AP CSA Reading. I have continued to help assess the FRQ's for CSA each summer (except for one - daughter's HS graduation).
In 2023, I was named Pathways Teacher of the Year by Teach Cyber. I have been accepted to the 2025 WeTeach_AI cohort. This is an exciting new adventure for me. As the saying goes - "A rolling stone gathers no moss."
Other hats that I wear: CSP and CSA Facilitator for Code.org, FIRST Robotics FTC mentor, CyberPatriot mentor, Girls Who Code Club sponsor, and Computer Science Honor Society sponsor.
