Effective Use of AI in the CS Classroom
Monday June 9, 2025 9:45am - 10:45am CDT
In this session, educators will learn the essential skills needed to effectively use AI as an instructional aide for themselves and their students in the computer science (CS) classroom. Teachers will explore insightful ways to use AI for creating differentiated assignments, constructing coding rubrics, tutoring, and serving as a coding companion. Finally, educators will learn how to build a custom AI bot. The hands-on session will be interactive, engaging, and applicable to anyone teaching computer science today.

Bring on the Chaos!
Monday June 9, 2025 12:45pm - 1:45pm CDT
Participants will complete a collaborative, hands-on, cross-curricular activity and computer simulation of the chaos game. Participants will use computational thinking to develop the algorithm and code for the chaos game.
Participants will leave with lesson ideas that require students to use mathematical thinking, problem-solving, and computational thinking skills to develop code allowing them to observe and identify patterns only easily seen through computer simulations.

Teaching and Learning About AI with the Micro:bit
Tuesday June 10, 2025 10:00am - 11:00am CDT
Join me to add AI to a micro:bit learning experience. We will use micro:bit Create AI to train a Machine Learning (ML) model and the run it on a miccro:bit V2. You will collect movement data from the micro:bit accelerometer, then train a ML model to recognise patterns in the  data, and then code the micro:bit to run the ML model so your creation can be taken anywhere. Micro:bit CreateAI allows you to explore the vital role data plays in AI systems, and develop AI literacy. It also helps to consolidate computer science learning and skills of data literacy used in mathematics and science.

You will need a computer (laptop or Chromebook) with Chrome or Edge browser that has a regular USB port (not type C--if you have type C, bring an adaptor to connect to regular USB cable ).
